August 19 marks China's Doctors' Day, also known as Medical Workers' Day. Changzhou held a special Ethics Forum to honor the profession, attended by over 200 representatives from the city's healthcare sector. The event highlighted the stories of exemplary doctors, showcasing their compassion and dedication to their work.
Among the attendees were Chen Zhiliang, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and director of the Department of Publicity, and Pan Dongling, vice mayor of Changzhou. They presented flowers to the families of those who had joined the Chinese medical aid teams.
During the event, speakers shared the inspiring stories of several distinguished doctors: Li Jiong, a physician at the Ziyunyuan Community Health Service Station in Qinglong Sub-district, Tianning District; Chen Li, director of the Reproductive Medicine Center at Changzhou Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital; Ji Yuan, director of the Cardiology Department at Changzhou Second People’s Hospital; Gao Jun, director of the Orthopedics Department at Changzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital; He Mingzhen, deputy director of the Blood Parasitic and Endemic Disease Control Department at Changzhou Disease Control and Prevention Center; and Zhang Wei, deputy director of the Cardiac Center at Changzhou Children’s Hospital. These heartfelt narratives highlighted their dedication, courage, and unwavering commitment to providing medical aid, while also showcasing Changzhou's contributions to China’s global medical aid efforts.
The event also included a solemn ceremony where representatives of the medical profession took an oath, reaffirming their dedication to the core values of their calling.
Inaugurated in 2018, China's Doctors' Day is celebrated on August 19 each year to honor the nation's doctors and their contributions.
